The Pursuit of Pay

Let us look at how much money you want and how you would handle it

  1. Describe in detail what you want your financial picture to look like. What areas do you need to improve in when it comes to making money? How would you like to handle your money? What are some new habits you’d like to have regarding handling your money?
  2. What could you do/sell for money? Is there a demand? Name five people right now who could pay you for what you want to do. Can you? Are there any opportunities to make money with your idea? Is anyone else making money doing what you want to do? If so, how are they going about it?

ACTION TIME

Make a list of everything you would like in your life. This includes everything. Next to each item write what it would cost you. Add up everything and total it.

You Can Have Anything You Want, Just Not Everything

Since creative people are usually multitalented, it’s easy to become overwhelmed with possibilities. So what we need to do next is cut down the number of goals to get to the ‘want to’s’ and eliminate the ‘could do’ and  ‘should do’ items. We want the most meaningful ways to make money, and that means some things must go – for now. The first thing to do is eliminate things that are in conflict with your values.

  1.  Make a wish list that includes everything you want and then cut it down to your top ten dreams and desires. What matters most? Ask yourself how much time you would like to spend on each one. Would it be worth the effort? What would be the benefits for reaching the goal?
  2. Next to each item mark it with a heart if it is a heart desire, put a cash sign if it is likely to make money, then put a check mark if it’s doable and finally add a star if it has already been done somewhere, by someone.
  3. Now list your top ten desires and dreams and look for any opportunities to support yourself and get paid while pursuing these passions. Think outside the box here. How could you make money off your idea?
  4. Or using index cards, write down your top ten desires. Now you have to make some tough choices. Prioritize them by arranging them into order with the most important one on top, and sort the rest so that you have them in order of importance.
  5. Put a first step you will take today next to each item.
